CONNECT TO USERS
Several types of social networks are currently available. Each one has its pros and cons.
Jeff Bulas a consultant in social media explains the tendencies that will dominate the market this year :
A very important role will be played in 2012 by the increase of industry opportunities of taking advantage of using social networks on mobile phones.
1. Social Mobile
The appearance and expansion of the smartphone, which is permanently connected to the internet through a broadband network has radically
changed society and the way we communicate with each other. Apps like Facebook and Twitter allow people always be connected to a social network.
These changes are very interesting as highlighted by the Twitter integration in the new iOS 5 from Apple.
After the release of the OS, the number of Twitter users grew by 300% in only a few months.
2. Socialization of Search
Result pages of Google searches are determined by algorithms developed by math specialists. The integration of the +1 option is that Google pays a significant importance
to the way a user likes or dislikes a website. We are basically talking about social signals Google focuses on with the implementation of the +1 button and about assessing
content by people, and not by computers as it happened until now.
But only Google started to pay more attention to social networks. Bing follows the same trend and the results can be seen already.
Facebook pages, LinkedIn profiles or YouTube videos have better positions in search engine results pages.
3. Geo-Targeting of Social Media Marketing
In the next 5 years, the mobile internet will continue to grow as well as it’s impact on society, especially since it is estimated that the number of smartphones
will reach 5 billion. In the United States, apps like Foursquare or Google Places brought smartphones to a while new use level.
Gathering localization data for marketing platforms is extremely important and data collection will continue, one way or another.
4. Social Commerce
The E-Commerce will soon turn 15 years of existence and the impact it brought on the market can be seen at companies that refused to embrace online commerce.
The next step is surely Social Commerce, with a leader like Facebook who already implemented some apps that allows you to shop directly from your Facebook account.
5. Social Gaming
The gaming concept changed so much over the years. Who would have thought that a company like Zynga would bring 230 million users on Facebook each month
Zynga managed to sell virtual goods worth more than 1 billion dollars so far.
